Sunday Confessions on a Monday

Hey there dolls! How was your weekend??
First things first I’m sharing a unique gift wrap idea over at Jen’s place today while she’s off gallivanting in Australia. Can you say jealous… ?!?! Anyway… Hope you’ll pop over and check it out.

So how about a confession or two… Start this week with a clean slate, eh? 😉 Linking up over here, FYI.

1. I have been incredibly lazy lately. Boom. But it’s the truth… I spent 98% of my weekend on the couch watching TV with the hubs. He has an excuse… he had to work Saturday night… But I didn’t. I slept. We did get our Christmas lights up. And went on a DQ run… Candy Cane Chill blizzard, anyone?! Yes, please.

2. Did you read Alyx’s post today? You should. I’m so with her there. I’m over the blog stress. The worrying about getting more people to come follow our blog, to comment on our posts. The ones who do, we’re incredibly grateful for you and don’t know what we’d do without you. To those that don’t… well, you’re missing out. Truly Lovely rocks. 😉 But I no longer feel the need to pay $xxx amount of dollars to get you to come see for yourself.

3. This working from home thing has REALLY messed up my getting dressed mojo… This was the only good outfit I put on last week… and I only wore it a little while. The rest of the week I wear jeans and a t-shirt. Or work out clothes… which consists of mainly sweat pant capris and a t-shirt.

4. I try to workout at least three days a week. Today should be day one this week… I’m not gonna do it. See confession #1.

5. I get discouraged about commenting on other blogs. If I comment at your place several times a week and throughout that week you never once make it over to see what I’m up to… OR at the very least reply to the comment I left at your place… I’m done. I won’t be going back. This blog world is about sharing and interacting. If you don’t interact BACK with me, then I won’t try interacting with you anymore. See confession #2.

What do you have to confess this week?

Kassi @ Truly Lovely

  1. I am so with you on #2 and 5 I blog for community and interacting with others and I am done feeling pressure to get my name out there and post everyday.

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Amen Allison! 😉 It’s tough work right, and to me it cheapens the experience if you’re always trying to goad people into visiting your space.

  2. This is a worpress site right? what plug in do you use so your replies to comments are also sent to email?! I am trying to figure that out on my blog to make my life a bit easier.

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

It is. It’s called Comment Reply Notification. Just install and activate it, then it sends an email to the commenter that there’s a reply. 😉

  3. Thanks for the shout-out, friend!! I try so hard to visit each person who comments on my blog, and I feel awful if I don’t. Sometimes I don’t waste my time commenting on a person’s blog if they never make it back to me. Why have a one-sided conversation?? I’m terrible at replying to everyone’s comments, but I at least try to visit. That’s what blogging is about, right?

    Thanks for linking up!

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Right!?! I’ve got to say I think you are the BEST at interacting with you’re readers, at commenting on other blogs and what not. I often find a new to me blog and go to comment only to see you’ve been there already! 😉 I still comment of course, haha.

  4. Ahh poopy face on bad bloggers!! I know blogging gets overwhelming, I totally go through phases, lol. I’m glad you had a super chill weekend! Those are the best for just relaxing. Oh and I almost never get ready for the day, unless I have somewhere to go, I’m wearing juicy pants, fuzzy socks, and a sweatshirt 😀

  5. #1: I pick one day a week to be lazy. It’s usually a weekend day so I can spend it being lazy with the hubs. Sometimes it’s both days, but who cares. You need that time to chill.
#2: I’m a very small blog and I didn’t start it to be a top blogger. I’m doing it to share what I love doing, which is crafting and making our home cozy and a little pretty never hurt. 🙂 I’m never going to make $ at it and I don’t care. I visit you everyday, because I want to! Hell, I didn’t know you were paying people to visit. Where’s my check? 🙂
#3: I retired 2 years ago and I don’t wear make up every day, nor do I get all dressed up either. I’m home alone all day with 3 cats and they could care less what I look like. Besides I’m comfortable.
#4: I started the C25K and haven’t done it for two weeks. I’ll get back to it……………hopefully.
#5: I comment on every blog I visit. I reply to every comment I get on my blog, however I have no idea if people know this or not. I’m on blogger ’cause I can’t afford anything else and it’s easy for me. Do people get a notice that I’ve responded to their comment or do they only see it if they come back and look at the comments? Can someone help me with this…….Kassi?
I love Truly Lovely that’s why I keep coming back.

Thanks so much Laurie for being an avid friend and follower of Truly Lovely!!! 🙂 My apologies for being misleading with number 2. I’ve never paid anyone to visit my blog. 😉 I meant that in terms of sponsoring blogs. I used to have this idea that paying the big blogs for sponsorship was the best/only way to get followers. #1, it’s not the only way. #2 the followers you receive from doing that are often not really there to read your blog anyway… We want the followers that WANT to be here. Not the ones that came just because X big blogger told them to. 😉
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for supporting other bloggers by sponsoring, trading, etc… BUT I no longer think spending big bucks on a big name blog is the way to go.
OH! And as for your question in #5, I don’t believe you have it set up to send a notice if you reply to a comment. At least I don’t get any notices that you’ve replied to my comments. I just tend to go back and look. There are blogger apps that can do that for you though… I’d google reply to comment blogger app. 😉

  6. Lazy is ok on occasion, 🙂 and number 5? There are about 3 blogs I follow by email and I love them. They are nothing like me or my blog. To be honest, I don’t think any of them have ever left me a comment and I can count on one hand how many times they’ve responded. I don’t really care though, I just like to read their blogs. 🙂

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Haha. That’s why it’s a confession. 😉 I’m not lazy all the time. Usually. haha
There are definitely blogs that I follow as well that are a high quality read and regardless of their interaction with me, I’ll still follow and read their posts. That doesn’t mean I’ll go out of my way to keep interacting though. Interaction is a two way process.

  7. Such a powerful post – loved reading this! I absolutely agree, I am so over the blog stress. I am so tired of all the things Alyx so perfectly describes. I blog for myself and I am sick and tired of visiting blogs and commenting and nothing happens, no answer, they don’t even have the decency to respond. So over that!
Thanks so much for sharing and all of your support, always! Love you ladies!
    Hugs xxx

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Exactly!!!! Alyx puts it really well, right!?! I’ll say it again, interaction is a two way street and its so discouraging when it’s one sided. You girl, are the best though! Thanks so much for YOUR support!!!! Don’t know what we’d do without ya!
